Thumbs up And all good things come to an end....

Well guys; Chompers is headed south. We have signed a contract in Belmar so we will be departing the AHMM in the upcoming weeks. This has been a great group of guys to fish with over the years I appreciate everything that you have taught me. If anyone is looking for the best slip in the AHMM it will soon be available!

Moving south puts us closer to just about everywhere we fish and we are super excited about now having some great bass spots further south in range as well as *floating* docks!!! I bequeath my secret flattie spots to Johnny Bucktails; and I expect Ledge Fever to take it up a notch with any beers and burgers events moving forward! I am sure we will cross paths in the deep and at the Junk Drawer! Tight Lines!

If I were you I would hold on to that slip in AHHM for a little while. I moved to belmar for the same reason and I hated it. Traffic is a nightmare, marina is like a jail, having to swipe a card where ever you go and if you forget the card on your boat and no one is on the dock or in the office you sit there scratching your head, and dont dare tie a rope to the gate to hold it open. I was repremanded for that. Alot of sketchy people walking around. boat gets filthy from dirt parking lot. Dealing with the railroad tressel is another whole bag of worms when the inlet is crazy busy. Charlie the man in charge is a A--hole. also got screamed at for putting a dock box on the dock when everyone around me had an extra one, but I guess they were special. Then I was questioned like I was in a concentration camp about chartering my boat, which I never or ever will, because I had different people on my boat for two different weekends.
they have a huge turn over every year.

Default Billy thanks for the feedback

There are certainly tradeoffs, to each marina and there is not a perfet marina north of cape may (the canyon club is certainly (%99). The bridges and inlet are certainly considerations. But the floating docks are such a huge plus; we are thinking about keeping both slips for a year; but I have a feeling that once we move south and everything is closer the next move will be Manasquan. I think the dirt from the parking lot could only make my boat look cleaner given my aversion to actually cleaning.

    Default I hear ya...

I think that you might actually fit, I think that it is 16' wide and 45' long. There is not a perfect marina around, there are plenty of nice ones up the river but then it takes an hour to get out; yep the bridges are going to take some planning, but belmar keeps us off the turnpike and parkway to get there; we certainly shall see; but we see the floating docks as a huge plus.

Keep your spot till you decide the owner you can deal with I was there with another boat between him and the parkway traffic I moved north ,I pay more for boat fuel but extra time on the water is better then the parkway lol,you wont have that ,so maybe dealing with the owner ,bridges, skinny channel will be acceptable

Wow! 1 trip to the Hudson and you are changing marinas. I have a friend of mine that is trying to get me to go down there but after 17 yrs at AH I am starting to get used to it. Hope this doesn't mean you cant post on the Sandy Hook forum any more....
Rich, the crew from pier 6 took a collection and paid your transfer fee to pier 3 and will help move your lines as well

Sometimes a change-up is just what you need.

Good Luck - see you on the water.

Good luck James. I would look a little more south if I was you. 3 bridges to open and if the ocean is angry you will be stuck at the dock. Little water in there. The traffic is horrible too. You may what to.take the extra 10 minute ride and go to MI. I may not be far behind you.

Good Luck down there man. Everyone has opinions of what you should or should not do. But as we all know, ultimately, it's your choice. Haven't hung out or fished with you, but you did help me launch this spring with my busted foot. I appreciated that immensely. You have obviously left an impression on many at AHMM and further.
    Good Luck.
