Question

Anyone ever fish the beach behind great egg inlet between OC and Longport? I think it is nicknamed the "dog beach". Could also be called the shell beach! Those mussel banks look like good nightime ambush spots for bass and the like. Any thoughts?

Fish the beach at high outgoing, fish the sod on mid-outgoing. Good fluke and bass spot. When the creek was there, I would say fish the outgoing rip on the creek. But it ain't there no more, so ixnay that one. The rockpile from the old bridge is good for weaks, too.

The rockpile towards Longport looks promising. The beach is getting so big that you could probably hit the end of groin with plug.

Fly Ty R....those were the days on that old bridge rockpile. Guys would wait in their cars for someone to catch a weakie then they would all come runnning at once and fire a volley of bucktails.

Yep, the good old days. I learned how to sharpen my plugging skills on those rocks many a time!! You're right, white bucktail with purple firetail worm was the ONLY thing that worked, according the everyone...

I miss that spot it was good for blues and weakies during the spring. Vietnamese guy would only throw a bucktail w/purple worm on it everday at only slack tide and incoming for weakies. I think he was a chef at the casinos. He was always there, when I fished there. Good blue action back in the day. I fished one time off the bridge stripers were all over the place in AUGUST!!! The hell with the fine I was too deep on the bridge and having too much of a good time.

That was without a doubt a great fishing spot back then. I caught my 1st weakies, blues, flounders, stripers at the spot. I do miss it.
