I second the ugly stick. Best value for a secondary set-up.

I have a 550sg on an Ugly Stick 6'6" medium. I think I put 12 pound mono on it.

Not even a custom, just a regular ole Ugly...and its a sweet, lightweight deal you can cast all day long, wouldn't be too horrified if it got snapped.

I've become somewhat of an Ugly Stick fan...alot of people don't like the longer surf models, and I tend to agree. I have an absurd 12 footer that you'd think was a fly rod its so whippy at the tip.

I've got a Custom 8'6" as a small plug, metals throwing rig with a lightweight Okuma and 20 pound braid...another feather light set up I could cast all day long.

They're cheap, but I don't think that makes them bad, just ehhh, utilitarian... I dig the Uglies.

uh really? I was looking at the ugly stick lites whcih i already have. i like them alot. I had one in my hand, but then i fitted an all star rod 7 foot medium action onto the reel. felt real nice so thats what i went with. also, i put on 15 lb power pro. i got set up and i could cast a split shot about 70 feet. lol, can't wait to hook up on this.

That real and 15lb powerpro can equal problems. My older ss penn reels are not the most braid friendly.
