I assume you dont fish for walleyes? you can catch them all winter long in the schuylkill river. and yea, people are catching them. I see youre from NJ, so maybe the schuylkill is too far for you. The perch are starting to spawn as the ice thaws.

If you want to catch a ten pound bass you should be fishing NOW. MOST of my big fish have come right after ice-out. 00'-01'-02'-03' I had 5 pound plus fish the first week in March and some spots of our lakes still had ice. They all came on rattletraps.

put the popper and other topwaters away until at least may. Bass generally wont go for topwater unless the h2o temp is 60+. maybe suspending jerks would be more appropriate, with long pauses? just a thought for next time.

    HI,

I caught a 6lb largemouth in the schuylkill in early March a few years ago. Used a jig and pig.

Hip's right. Right after ice out the biggins start looking for a meal. Work it slooooowww. I caught an 8lb. 14oz. hog 3/27/74 in a farm pond. Been tring for 30 years and haven't topped it.
Gentlemen, lets be reasonable. This is no place to perform some halfass autopsy on a fish. And, I'll be damned if I'm going stand here while you cut that thing open and have that little Kitner boy spill out all over the dock!
