Question Can you actually see Sand Eels?

I keep reading reports on this site and others that bass are feeding on Sand Eels here and there. Are these eels actually getting washed up on shore, or in the wash where people can see them? Don't sand eels stay in the sand on sand bars, or do they swim throughout the water column? I haven't seen any this fall, just wondering if I am missing something.

sand eels will swim up and down the water column. When they are thick you will see them "dimpling" on the surface.

    Oh yes!
Especailly when it's calm, clear water and you're wading.I've had large schools cruise right around me,through the legs too if you don't spook them!

    Too true!
