If a striper can swallow a whole lobster or huge conch shell than I think a biodegradable gupl shrimp should be ok, I used to wander the same thing...also I worry about all the string that we tie arond our clams if that might mess them up or not??

chances are those shells, and strings are the causation of problems some where along the digestive tract.
....also i had smaller fish in mind , like flounder, weakfish, seabass.. the diffence between a 12 inch striper's organs and viceral body cavity and that of a 12 inch fluke..is huge.

(dont get me wrong here guys, im not trying to be a PETA nut or anything like that, Im not going to stop using gulp, and im not going to stop tying clams with strings... just thought it was an interesting point, i feel like some people may be taking my position the wrong way like, i said im just playing the devils advocate to create some interesting dialog and conversation.)'
    tight lines!

lol ...my sisters rotty ate a whole deck of cards, corn on the cob (including the whole cob), the entire contents of a pillow(the stuffing), a bra(including the wire), and a cell phone in one day....this is a true story... and the dog still eats everything in site.

    OFFICIAL REPLY FROM BERKELY

The baits are partially digestable. The remainder passes easily through the digestive system.
