Jones Brothers makes good boat. NC commercial style boats and they used to be cheap, but they go caught up in the new boat buying craze in the last 5yrs and got to expensive for what they are. But that doesn't take anything away from the boat your buddy is looking for except make it more expensive..

Did some research on that boat before buying my Maritime. They are suposed to handle off shore yet run shallow. They have a rep for being solid.

I fish one every year up on The Cape when we striper fish with a guide in Monomoy. The boat handles well, is very solid, has very few moving parts to break, but is still basically a "shallower" water boat.

We ran offshore last year to a place called Hankerchief Shoal, about a 10 mile trip from where we were, in a 2-3' chop... it was a spine banging experience.

If you are looking for a great bayboat, that you can get up pretty skinny in, I'd say the Jones Cape is a great choice...

Actually, now that I think of it... Krazy 8 just bought one in the last year or two.... shoot him an email.

Maybe thats the one I was looking at that had a pronounced Caroloina flair. If the cape fisherman is the flat bottom skiff then its only a bay boat. A buddy of mine had one for a year and sold it becuase it was a rough ride in the chop.

I've been on a few of the flat bottoms when living in NC..........Although a solid boat, very solid.........I could not justify the price a new one if I had to open my wallet. Don't be afraid to add extra horses, they are heavier

they are more or less parkers, former parker employees own jones. the jones is actually a little heavier. they are very nice solid boats.

Default Thanks

Thanks for all the replies ... he went for it ... drove down to N.J. yesterday and picked it up. It was a wet sea trial in the pouring rain.

Jones Bros are all composite now. i am sure that had to do with their increase in pricing as some composites cost 8x that of wood. Very nice boats.
