I wonder what a dedicated 4 man crew could catch and process in, say, six hours? Using rod and reel of course. Wonder how many boats you could get to pay a fee for the "World Champion Squalus acanthias Fisherman" trophy. All proceeds to SSSF. All "processed" meat to a food bank.

Hey Joe, you have to use jigs only in the DT.

One man one boat one dog 1827 processed lbs in 4:32 Hell yeah I'll play

Hey Picker, have you heard anything about the Mass. processors boycotting the dogs from Jersey? Supposedly they aren't taking any of our dogs because they feel they got the shaft on some of the decisions. Maybe Nils knows something about this, if it's true it's going to hurt us bad in the landings dept..

CTW -

I spoke to a NJ dock operator yesterday who had just sold some dogs up North. The problem is that these guys - the buyers - have essentially been out of the df business for what, 9 years? They are going to have to build back up to full production/sales. Even for the relatively meager quota we're looking at (compared to the total biomass), 5,000 tons is a lot of fish to move, and I'd expect it's going to take some gearing up before everything's solid again.

Dogfish and monkfish are the the 2 fish that I have seen caught inshore and as deep as 250 fathoms. The dogs are everywhere and make just about every type of fishing difficult when they are thick. Fishing some of the southern canyons can be brutal, especially around March. There were a load of big females this year. I hope they get thinned out some.

NOAA needs to get their head out of their butt.
