Yep, I lived around the corner on 6th and Lombard last year - Jim's on 4th and South is awesome.

Don't get that gooey yellow crap, get provolone on a cheesesteak. It will change your mind on Pat's, and it's heaven on a steak from Jim's.

Tony Luke's near Front & Oregon is pretty good, and Nick's on 20th & Jackson (but that came up in an earlier thread, didn't it?)

I know this is gonna sound funny....
( i'm not a philly guy grew up in jersey)

The Best cheesesteak in the tri state area hands down is from a small place in pennsauken nj called "Meadowbrook Food Center"... The Best....
( some of you guys from S. philly may remember the bucher shop in the italian market growin up ( saughter house ) "Di Pascales" ... The owners of Meabowbrook are the thrid generation of that buchershop... ) Give them a try you will not be let down... They have also won the best hogie Voted by 610 WIP a few years in a row...

I know that s. jersey is not philly and nothing is like S. philly food but good god give this sandwich a try... I drive to jersey once or twice a month just to grab a sandwich....

What makes it the best, froggy? What do you look for in a cheesesteak?

For me, it's all in the grease. Not many places sell as many as Pat's, Geno's (or even Jim's, but I don't like my steak chopped up). That's why they taste different than the rest- mo' better grease.

ROLL..... (I know a jersey boy talking about the roll but "sarcones" seeded roll) They use fresh chipsteak not that processed crap and just the right amount of cheese ( none of that whiz crap either ) ... $5.00 and an awsome sandwich...

Rail, there is just enough grease also not too much not to little just right ... lol lol lol

screw it i'm headed to jersey tonight after work ( west chester to pennsauken)

Default Geno's & Pats are a joke.

Both built their reputations feeding late night drunks after concerts and games. Many places better than them around.
