Default Taking a shot 10/4 in the AM.....

Plan is to leave AHMM around 6am and head to the rips with eels and then setup on the troll. Is anyone going to be out and about? -Chompers on 65.

Default What a day......

Left the AHMM this AM at 6am on the nose! First thing we saw was this old HAT that was tied up on the pilings. This boat was a transient next to Chompers last weekend; super nice folks left Erie, PA a week and a half ago headed for FL. Why the owner of that stupid pier (or what's left of it) does not do something better to prevent this type of thing from happening is beyond me!

The conditions this AM were snotty to say the least (Wellcraft weather; aboard Chompers)!! A honking west wind and an opposing tide made for some really sporty conditions. As soon as we got beyond the rip we went on the troll and found fish right away! We had a double header of Bass on an umbrella rig; and another bass on a yellow Stretch for a great combo hookup. We landed two of the three bass; all keepers; with only the smallest going in the box.

Just about this time; every bird in the Atlantic descended on the hook! As soon as we dropped back a rig and locked the drag we had a fish on 90% were bluefish which got old after a while; but plenty small striped bass as well.

Once we had cranked enough bluefish we deployed the wire and spoons; and set out to what I am calling Sully's lump where HotShot picked up the nice bass attached! We already had to smaller meat fish in the box so she was released to swim another day!

The blackberry started going off so we made a run for the barn to start the real work day! What a way to start the day!!! Fall fishing is here; finally!

When i was 18 i thought my father was an idiot, by the time i was 21 i was amazed at what that man had learned in 3 years. Singed father of 3 sons.

Default Best Bet

If your staying around the hook just clam hard on the shoal (smaller fish, but enough). Eel at night. Otherwise, go south and troll from rocks southerly.
