this guy knows.

whenever someone tells me they like pats or genos I always wonder if they've just never had a good one or if they actually like that crap.

A few people i've met outside of the area have told me something along the lines of "I've been to philly once in my life. had a philly cheesesteak. that's about it" and everytime it's either pats or genos. I tell them that's not a philly cheesesteak.

Well when you're old enough to drink and stay out past midnight, you'll have to head down there and see for yourself...

Where do you go- the Tummy Stretcher, near the gum factory?????

Had 'em all. No comparison (at least the one's in S. Philly) Pork Shack @ Weccacoe/Snyder in South Philly. Best seven bucks for a cheesesteak w/onions.

LOL, I was referring to "pats and genos are a joke" which didn't show up in the quote.

you talking about boccellas? or however it's spelled. I've never been there.

laspadas and pudge's are probably my 2 favorite. honorable mention to johns roast pork and chubbys.

That video is so typical of the area. When I was twenty something (late seventies – eighties) I had a lot of good times in South Philly. After the game, races on Front Street, wrestling at the Arena, night at the Trok, a night on South Street, etc etc etc, Pat’s and Geno’s (the area) was always a/the place to go. Bars closed but they were open. It was just something to do. Their sandwiches sucked then but nobody cared, it was about the “ambiance”. I remember the two of them then; they were in the news then and always will be. From what I understand they are friends and do all they can to bring people to their eateries and South Philly. It is all about the “show” and to draw people to South Philly. There is only one South Philly on the planet and it is a place everyone should go to and have a good time. If you have never been, GO. To start, be sure to go to the Italian Market in the afternoon.

Maybe. Lawrence Rd, across from a school. It's been 25 years. I only remember it because looks like it's in somebody's house. Is that place still there?

I don't mind Pat's or Geno's.... it whiz what it whiz.

Neither Pat's nor Geno's can hold a candle to Steves on St Vincent.

Chinks is absolute horsemeat and the place could use a good scrubbin.

John's Roast Pork makes a great steak.
Chubby's is another decent one.

Chinks is a clean shop.....just very old, and small, and gets a huge
amount of traffic each day. When they take them out of the fridge, you can see the thinly sliced steak on trays for all to view. The rolls, the oil,
the onions, the cheese....all top quality

Steve's isn't a bad sandwich, but somebody should clean up and
mop more ofter too much spilled catsup, cheesewhiz etc.
all over the counters and floor. Ugh! Cheesewhiz is for people
who think McDonalds makes a good burger
Oh yeah...and the razor sliced, slimey pickles need to disappear too

Geno's is racist so I will stick with Pat's.
