Default "Skunk"

Dropped the anchor in the same spot I fished for the past two days. Picked up some nice size fish each of those days. Today, just the opposite. Beautiful conditions Mother Nature could not have dealt us a better fall day Caught nothing but shorts and missed a few runoffs. Did lose what appear to be a legal fish which hit a chunk and began to run like a blue fish. Began to cross the other lines until I regain control of it. Then it headed towards the front of the boat and into the anchor line it went. Hurt my heart to have to cut the line, but I did Now for the surprise of the day. Caught 5 flounder, all legal with the biggest one going about 22". And no, I didn't keep them. Have enough flounder in the freezer now. So, since I didn't put any fish in the box, I guess I'll call this a big "SKUNK"

Your day sounds like my day except I got 1 28" keeper in the 11th hour. That was the only bite I had today and luckily I got it in the boat. It was nice floating on the boat in calm water in November.

i wouldnt consider that a skunk. it was just a day where you werent able to bring aboard a keeper. it happens. still a decent day though. i caught a 14 inch flounder on saturday. there are still some around.

Thanks for the report. One of the fish I caught on Saturday hit at slack tide and ran me up the side of the boat, fortunately the fish ran under the anchor line and was able to get her in the boat. Probably would have lost the fish if it was a real big one. Calm day on the bay is still way better than a day at work.

It was a "Beautiful" day out there today. Even stayed much longer than I was going to. On another note, I forgot my handheld VHF this morning in the garage on the charger. Generally take it with me on each trip. My mounted VHF was working great this morning when I left. A couple of hours into the day I hear it changing channels on its own. Tried to call a couple of guys to no avail once I got it back on channel 10. Lesson learned. I won't forget that handheld again. You just never know what is going to happen on the water.

Default The skunk was out there today

I feel your pain also. I made it out by noon today on my buddys boat out of BayWay. The weather was awesome for a fall afternoon, but could not put a keeper in the boat. Caught 4 shorts up to 26". Stayed until the tide turned in the afternoon trying to wait them out. If the wind is not too bad tommorrow will try it again.

How many guys have entered the Port Norris Tournament. Do you have to be docked there to enter?
