Hey there pogie boy. They actually like to dive. I actually tested them on a pier that I fish most often. So, they do dive, very deep in fact. So what I do is bend the lip so that they don't dive as much. Here's a very cool thing that I realized, when I'm fishing and I'm retrieving them slowly.........I effing get mesmerized or hypnotized by their wiggle that sometimes I just don't care about catching fish anymore. I just cast them out and retrieve them slow.
It's very therapeutic and calming.
But it's true though, I could spend a whole afternoon just tossing them just to see their booty shaking.

Thanks. I appreciate it very much. I get most of my supplies from NJ Tackle. You could also use Cape Cod Tackle or Salty Bugger. There's a couple more e.g. Barlowes Tackle Express, Jann's Netcraft etc. You can also google "plug/lure building kit's." That should start you off.

Also, be sure to use the "search" function on this site. There's a wealth of information here, given out by the experts. Pay special attention to the comments by "chrlstn" - HE IS THE MAN!!!!!

As has been mentioned. This could get addicting.
