Default todays trout no peck fins?

don't know whats going on but i caught a lot of trout today with no peck fins... lots look like they were either cut off or eaten off.. anyone else see this? first yr i ever seen it

Yep, a ton of Fish with no pecs and a bunch that looks like their tail was chopped off.

Those hatcheries must really overload the pens. The fish looked good and healthy but my god numbs for pecs and numbs for tails.

Most hatcheries will clip the fins to mark them as a stocker fish.

i've never seen this before.. and i doubt they will clip over 30k fish

1. they (nj's hatchery anyway) have clipped many thousands of fish with volunteer help, if for specific stocking programs (the old searun program specifically)
2. most nubs are from repeated pushing against the raceway walls

I see it all the time....i always assumed it was from them being raised in a concrete enclsure.

I'm pretty sure that's what your seeing. They wear them off on the concrete bottom.

thats what it looks more like... not a clean cut.. but they still swim.. but when releasing some they need to be put in the water and revived and held until they get there bering

Paul have seen that on almost all of the rainbows and not one brown trout has had a cut fin.

bill only seen one brown like it now that i think about it... most of the browns i got were all over 12in.. got one about 16-18in on a white jig
