We have charts but I also have hand drawn maps showing where I fish in the back. Runs from the Cape May bridge to the bridge at Dad's Place. Give them out to anybody who asks.

Don't worry Frank. I told him the spot but he didn't hear me. I didn't have nine bull horns stuck inside each other when I told him.

Sounds like your ready for a little vacation Fred,
Dealing with the public takes a certain breed.

I had a guy come up to the lunch truck today complaining that I had no hot mustard in packs, only the big squeeze bottle.
Telling me I should have HOT mustard in packs not just the bottle
I asked what for ,he said for the sandwich he BROUGHT from home.
Mine you this was after the guy helped himself to salt, pepper and a spoon not BUYING a god dam thing.

People never cease to amaze me,It's been a long year Fred.Your almost at the end, don't let the knuckle heads get to ya bud.

Totally different or me. I I'm using live bait then the rod is in my hand and thumb on the drum or line looped on my finger. Seen a lot of fish hit live baits and it's different than cut baits or clam. When you have a moving target like a live bait the most important thing for the attacking fish is to score a hit. Grab the live bait wherever it can. Once it's got hold of it then it can turn it into it's mouth to swallow. This may take a few seconds at most.

My method has always been this. Live bait. You feel the strike. Rod tip pointed directly at the entry point where line hits the water. Important point here and I've seen this happen with every fish including stripers in our aquasrium. When a fish grabs a bait it's biggest problem is other fish. They will gladly rip food right out of their neighbors mouth. No diferent than seagulls feeding at the dock. How many times have you seen a gull try to fly away with a piece of fish in it's beak and there are a bunch of gulls right on top of it trying to yank the food away. Good chance that when a striper hits a bait other stripers have seen it and will think nothing of it to attack even if it's a tail sticking out of the stripers mouth. All fish are oppertunistic feeders and what better oppertunity is there than stealing from your neighbor after he has done the work of catching a live bait.

When they catch a live bait they need to turn it and get it into their mouth as quickly as possible. Only then are they safe from thieves. This may only take a few seconds. After I point the rod at the water I lock the reel and if the fish hasn't started to move I will slowly lift my rod. I figure by now the striper has the live bait fully in it's mouth and when I lift the fish will usually take off. Now all I have to do is rips it's head off. By pointing the rod tip at the water I will create a little slack in the line. If not the striper may feel the resistance and react like something is trying to pull the meal out of it's mouth. Usual reaction is to take off to get away from the thief. It will do this without pulling the bait all the way in. As long as it has it's mouth closed on your bait no other fish can steal it. It's when a fish opens it's mouth to turn a bait when a thief can strike. By just giving a striper a few seconds you give it time to turn your bait and get it entirely in it's mouth but usually not down deep into it's stomach.

As usual this does not apply all the time. Big fish can inhale some big baits. Cut baits I lock them up. Live baits I will always give them some time.

Snell them all. For live baits I'll go 6/0 with eels and 8/0 with spot, croaker. J hooks but I'm holding the rod.
