Maybe I'll post some photos on various things done in my shop and if interest follows maybe they might start a rod building forum

I built rods as a side occupation many years ago, stepped away from the craft for over 20 years. This winter I turned my first rod in that amount of time, and since being away from it for so long I had to ask some advice on other forums before I got my mojo back.

I would certainly like to see a rod building forum here at the Barn where we could exchange ideas, what new materials to use, what works better than other things...etc...etc....

How to build your own wrapping jig, or where to buy a set up that works best, the possibilities are endless, and it could become a very valuable resource for all here......

Fish Poison.....I think you should take Rod out to dinner at a nice restaurant, and pitch the idea to him, buy him lot's of drinks before you breach the subject........

Default I'm in

A rod building forum would be great. Tomorrow morning I'll take pics of the two spinning rods that Brian taught me how to build at last fall's clinic at Bogan's. They are e glass with Shimano and Pac Bay components and quite honestly dollar for dollar you can't buy better. All told they ran me about $65 each excluding flexcoat and start up supplies. Next up is a Calstar popping rod for bluefin and a set of fluke rods. I thought the clinic was great because it was very relaxed and hands on. Just be aware that Kevin and Brian build integrated fishing systems (rods) and I've only assembled the blank and components they outfitted me with. I'd be great to share ideas and further the craft with a forum on here much like other sites I visit.

I'd like a rod forum too, but if it isn't going to happen it would be nice to t least make the plug forum a plug & rod forum.

TRSteven's work is a testament to what you can do, Those rods look great. It's like working with fishing knots, after enough practice is second nature to you. I'll see if I can put a starter thread together with some topic and hope to hear from all of you.

There is a rod building course taught twice a year here in Cape May County at the CMC Vo-tech. It is a night course and I believe it runs 8-10 weeks, 1 night a week

Hey guys, someone suggested that we start on the tackle box. I agree, I'm computer lame, but will get photos up soon. I think the past few post's look good. If any one can post anything put it up.
TRSSTEVEN, thats perfect, if you build a few more you just get better as you go.
JUNKMAN, your on a roll!
If anyone wants to post "how to questions" I can respond and get pics later.
Let's Roll!
ps: what type of finishing problems are haunting you?

Great looking work, very unique. You should put up pics of the handle someday. Is that a thread work pattern above the grip/under the guide. I know it's difficult to get a good picture. Sometimes it's hard to see the detail.
