Always looking for some new ideas and tricks.

I'd love to learn how to build rods and each winter I look for a local class (Cherry Hill/Philly) that is held on weeknight. Since I haven't been able to find any, a forum would be a great way to learn.

Default Rod Building classes.

My shop will be offering rod building classes this fall. Others that offer classes are JPR rods and Brielle tackle. Paul can attest to the fact that if your are even slightly interested you can turn out a great product, one that you 'built yourself'. Maybr as more people get into it we might be talking more rods and rod building on this site.

at about 14 i decided to fix and old garcia rod i have. the wraps were coming apart. i stole my moms sewing thread and coated it in testors model cement. that didnt work too well. then i found a real heavy thread, i used that and polyurethane. that didnt work too well either. i tried 5 min epoxy, then i used fiberglass epoxy resin. that worked ok. then i found flexcoat and gudenbrod. cash over at freds bait and tackle taught me a bunch of stuff one winter. i guess he figured i was always buying stuff from him, it couldnt hurt. i used to want to take a class at the old bogans but never did. i learned a lot alongthe way. its a nice winter hobby, but really i have mor efun taking an old mass produced rod and tweaking it a bit, than building from scratch. right now im working on an old roddy pluggin rod with supplies from bogans brielle.

I have been wondering about a rod building forum for awhile! I think more people build rods than plugs anyway!

I'm new here but I would read and contribute to a rod building forum.

I enjoy rolling my own.

Cabin fever is already setting in, so I would love to pass the time learning rod building. I'm in Philadelphia and it seems all of the classes offered are too far of a ride, Anyone aware of a classes offered in the Philly area. A forum would be a great addition to the Barn,

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A ROD BUILDING FORUM, ALSO I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A ROD / REEL REPAIR FORUM TOO BECAUSE I DO THAT TYPE OF STUFF A LOT ON THE SIDE. / ALSO A TRIP SWAPPING FORUM BECAUSE I KNOW SOME GUYS WHO NEVER SALT WATER FISHED AND I AM TAKING THEM FOR A TRIP TO CANADA. I THINK THIS WOULD BE GOOD SO PEOPLE CAN EXPERIENCE ALL TYPES OF FISHING.
