I hear it's wide open with two 70 pounders caught, and some in the 60's!!!!

If it's not weighed and a world record, why keep it, if not eating it.
Go ahead and scream the BS at me - I certainly don't care.

"If it's not weighed and a world record, why keep it, if not eating it."
(Seeing your sentence makes no sense, I'll postualte that you meant if it's weighed and not a world record, it should be let go.) I will repond dude. What TOTAL BS, yeah you'd let go.... It was/IS the all time NY State record, and HOW close to the world record?? Laying in the net or on the deck could you tell the difference inbetween 75.4 and 78.8???? If so you have great experience dealing with 50 and 60 pound stripers! I could NOT TELL THE DIFF I'd bet if al mcreynolds was on board to witness, he'd be sweating as the fish headed to the scale.

Wow. That thing is MASSIVE! I couldnt even imagine. Looks like a St. Croix rod and Penn reel, nice setup! Also looks like he needs a bigger boga grip. The one he has probably bottoms out at 15 or 30 lbs. Not even close to what he needed with a fish like that .
![]() Whoever said that scale needs to be recertified is crazy. THat fish is huge! Sometimes the angle of the pic or position of the fish throws you off. Al Mc Reynolds stood behind his fish. This guys is next too his. |

Oh brother... under current regulations the bass population has bounced back and is very strong. The fish was taken abiding by the states regulations. Part of the sport and heritage of recreational fishing is landing the biggest fish. Congrats to the angler on his fish of a lifetime...

Honestly I don't have an opinion on this either way, to each their own as to what they keep legally, but I find it ironic, when the gov say its ok to keep fish there is no questioning whether or not its healthy for the species, hey it must be ok if the gov says so plus its legal, BUT as soon as the gov wants to limit a fishery, everyone screams they have no idea what they are talking about and have their heads up their axxes.
Did anyone stop to think that just because its legal, it still may not be good for the fishery? People trust the same governing bodies for striper regs that they so heatedly challenge on the summer flounder issue. Just saying. And obviously you would keep a record or near record fish without questions. Last edited by Gindy; 07-23-2008 at 10:31 PM. |
