Unhappy Roseman's Marine

After 24 years in business in Stone harbor Chuck at rosemans has closed his doors. It is ashame that in this day and age of $$million Real estate Stone Harbor pretty soon you wont be able to find a pound of squid to go fishing. For a small store Chuck had preety much anything you needed to keep your boat running and in good repair. I for 1 will miss his store greatly.

Chuck was very helpful, your right that little store had pretty much whatever you needed. Well at least after 24 years he can go done to Fla.put his toes in the sand and fish when ever he wants. Good for him. The Hodge Podge in Avalon bought out his left over inventory. I hope they're as helpful as Chuck? I believe they will be I,ve heard nice things about them. See ya Chuck, good luck on your next chapter of life and go bug some poor shop owner down there...

Wow, I am bummed. Chuck had everything you ever needed in that crowded little shop of his. I will miss him greatly, but I do wish him well. Chuck, you do deserve a much needed break my friend. Enjoy your retirement!

I have known Chuck since he worked at Darling Yacht Sales which is now Avalon Point Marina. Since he opened up in Stone Harbor he has been a great help to many and always there when needed. He and his store and his abundent knowledge will be greatly missed. I hope the Hodge podge does well. It is a long ride to cape may or Rio Grand for boating supplies.

Default Good Luck Chuck

I have been going to Rosemans since I was 12 years old. I'm now 32. I always looked forward to a "hey guy!" from Chuck. Rosemans was a major part of the reason why I love Stone Harbor. And yes, He had everything from marine supply to Island Drum CD's. It didn't matter if you were a renter fishing from the docks or a veteran, Chuck treated everyone the same. Mom and Pop stores need to be supported by the fishing community, I go to boaters world like everyone else, but I try to find it local first. I remember when Avalon and Stone Harbor wasn't So fu-fu but with the $ of real estate this is no suprise. There is always Smugglers Cove but I hear they are having some issues as well. Plus they are not Chuck. Hodge Podge is a nice spot they are buying all of chucks marine equip and opening a marine shop next season.(PS the guy says Patty's Hole to every question. My friends and I would die laughing about it. Where's the bite today? pattys hole. then we would take the whaler there to find 80 boats and no fish in a 20 ft wide channel..lol so don't ask hodge where the bite is..) I was glad I got the chance to wish the Rosemans crew the best of luck before they closed. Another great family establishment lost in a world of wall-marts.

Default My Thoughts exactly

Rosemans will be missed by many, and me especially. Bought manyrods n reels and other stuff from chuck as did my wife(for me) and my family(for me via gift Certificates). I always could find what I thought I needed then Chuck got me what I really needed. All at prices cheaper than Worst Marine & Boaters World

Went to Fla this spring & my buddy asked if I owned a share in Rosemans cause most of mY T shirts and ball caps had Rosemans on them.

Wish Chuck & his bride well

Also Good Move Hodge Podge-Was Happy to hear you were filling the void

Yeah, I've known Chuck more years than I want to remember.

Spent three days on the phone with Moeller Marine trying to get them to send me a fuel pickup tube the right length for a 20 gal tank I put under the front seat on my old 17ft Mako. They sent me one shorter than the one that came with the tank. It would leave 3-4 gals of fuel in the tank. I should have just gone to see Chucky. I needed 15", he had three at 18" with the same top fitting. Cutting off the extra was easy..

If Chuck didn't have it you didn't need it. For the size of that store he had more stuff than any West or Boaters ever had..and he was always ready to deal or match prices...most times he was cheaper..

The town of Stone Harbor has gone to crap in the last 20yrs.. Yup city... They've been busting his chops there for the last 10yrs. But you have to know Chuck...he busted back as bad as they did it to him and had fun doing it.. He's moving to Tequesta(near Jupiter) FL... I think he's crazy, but if he opens another marine store those people are in for a treat..

Chuck was a pleasure to deal with, I used to swing by there all the time when I was working in SH. If he is really headed to Florida I wish him all the best, hew bride eh?

mattlist, thats nonsense about Dave at Hodge Podge. Dave and Tammy know where the fish are biting and if he sends you out to the Paddy's Hole area and you fish right down the middle of the channel with the rest of the googs you cant blame it on him! Roseman's will be missed for sure but Hodge Podge will be able to fill that void better than any superstore.

Is Chuck still in town? I'd like to see him before he officially leaves for Florida.

He is still in town as settlement on his property is not until the end of Oct. He is heading to FLA in November the last I heard. He said he would be poking around the store , but you would just have to catch him there.

Ryan,

This goes way back like 25 years ago when my brat friends and I would invade Hodge Podge with 5 bucks between three of us. Not trying to insult the Podge by any stretch, just a joke. The old guy did the rest of the boaters a favor by telling us to go there.... I have joked with them about it before.

Man, that really sucks. Chuck was the nicest guy. I've been going in there for about 15 years. Even when I was staying in Wildwood, Sea Isle, etc., I'd always make the trip just cause I knew he'd give me the real story.
