The crew of the Adam Bomb II departed Cape May harbor at 1pm, and had great fishing in the Cape May rips for the incoming tide. Fishing until 4pm, we boated 15 stripers, keeping our limit of both big and slot fish to 38in/20lbs. All of the fish fell to bucktails, and were taken at Prissy Wick shoal.

The weather was beautiful, the seas were flat, and the fishing was great! Today was a great day to start off the 2004 fishing season!

Adam,
Congrats on the nice catch.

Where exactly is the cut off where striper season is closed in the DB?

Even if you are outside of the bay, if you come back through the bay and into the canal, isn't it illegal to possess striped bass in the DB?

I am not trying to bust your b*lls, I am just trying to understand the laws.

I went through that with a warden a couple years ago. We came in Hereford inlet to the North Wildwood ramp and the warden was waiting. He said he saw us coming in and followed us to the ramp. He said if we'd stopped to fish he could have given us a ticket but because we came diectly in he knew we didn't fish in the back. That way he knew we got our fish in the ocean.

Thanks guys. It really could not have been a nicer day on the water. We'll see what the weather brings up in these upcoming weeks. It doesn't look too pretty, so we may haul the boat for some maintenance, and launch again in early March.

We fish all ocean side waters this time of year, and when returning to port, do so along the beach front, in Cape May inlet, and directly to the marina, non-stop. As the other angler said, usually the game warden would be waiting in the parking lot if he knows you're out, especially when you're one of the only boats currently running in the marina. He can watch you in to make sure that your fish were caught oceanside.

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
