I fished South Vineland Park last Thursday after work for a couple of hours. I picked up 3 nice fish, all right around 2lbs. Green & pearl laminate 5" senkos was the hot bait. I saw three other boats on the water & a few fishing from the banks, so I doubt you'll have it to yourself...
I have never had much luck there. I fished a kids tournament once and caught a little 12" bass one time. I am going to hit it once more and if I don't have much luck I am going to stop wasting my time. I always catch pickeral there though.
I lived just through the woods from crystal lake til I was in my 20's. They got some nice bass, 3-4lbs and pickeral, catfish as well as a few perch. The police dept has been stocking it for a kids tournament for a few years, so the fishing should be even better than it was. Not a nice place to swim though, seen multiple drownings over the years. People claim that the sandwash has springs that cause swimmers to cramp. Caught fish on everything from nightcrawlers to plastics to daredevils.
Couple cars and a bulldozer down there too.
There is one of the back ponds that has nothing but catfish in it, back behind the island side.
Biggest catfish I ever seen caught in there were in the 3-4lb range.
One of the ponds? Are we thinking of the same place? The south vineland park I know of is across the street from Progresso on Elmer Rd., and it is only one pond.
(Back Pond) Maybe its the light blue one in this picture.....i thought there was only one....i know its deep with big catfish in it...i saw about 62ish feet come up on the depth finder....
Drew, is that Elmer Rd. on the top of that map, or the bottom?? I'm kinda lost here, I never knew there were 2 ponds. How do you get to the small one, do you have to go through woods or anything?

Welp.... I prove myself wrong. There is a second pond. I took a walk down there today because I was in the area, and saw some bluegills and bass fry swimming around which is a good thing because they are naturally reproducing in there. Then I saw a few 10-12" bass come in to feed on the baby gills. Of course I didn't have a rod with me so I went home. The little pond didn't look too promising because of the size and depth. I would imagine the fish size in there may be stunted due to the size and constant inbreeding. I'll have to give it a shot one of these days though.

The main lake is 46' deep. I cant remember how deep is the small pond.there are large fish in both ponds. my largest bass 5.5 came from the small pond about 15 years ago
I haven't tried the small pond yet, maybe I will give it a shot tomorrow if I feel like waking up early.
