Last month I fished the Manentico Sand Ponds in the Millville area. We had a good day and got some decent bass and pickerel. A friend recently told me that these ponds are tidal and that you have to be carefull not to get stuck. When I fished it I did not observe any fluctuation of the water levels in any of the ponds. Are they tidal ponds or not? Thanks in advance for your response.
I do have a 4-wheel drive vehicle and I might just take you up that offer, Thanx:thumbsup:
It amazes me that Law enforcement doesnt want to get involved Someone is going to catch someone breaking into their vehicle, take action and end up in jail with a hefty law suit against them, you know little Johnny does no wrong.
I dont go on the dry dock too often, hows your son doing?
Bass Seeker I agree with you. I know it isn't that F&G doesn't want to help, I know they do BUT the are certainly limited in resources, money, and manpower for sure. There is only so much they can do to prevent this problem. I'm sure this problem doesn't only occur at Menantico, I'm sure it happens in other WMA's. There is only so much they local police and game wardens can do and when they ususally team up it's to gang up on the 4wheelers and such. And it is ashame because of the fact Menantico is such a beautiful place. It just can be full of scumbags and the unwanted folk during the summer..
I didn't make the comment to get the post off topic, just wanted to give a heads up of to the stuff that has happened. Does it happen everyday? NO...it just happens too often for my liking out there, that's all. Another reason I don't fish it is because it just doesn't produce like it used to...just too many other places to go to that I can get skunked WITHOUT the worries
I was out at Mananitco Ponds about 10 years back and came upon a guy who lost his trailer, he had returned to his truck only to find that someone had torch cut his step bumper and stolen his trailer. I guess he had it locked to the ball.
I drove out there for the first time since a few months ago and found numerous characters either swimming, or just perusing the parking area.
When I was leaving I passed a patrol car headed in, but that same patrol car didn't stay long enough to do anything as it passed me while I was still headed out the main road.
I didn't see anyone fishing and none of the vehicles parked there had trailers.
Does anyone know how many incidents that place has had?
I've just returned to freshwater fishing here after having moved away for several years and have been checking out several of my old spots, many have really changed over the years.
The latest was this one on Sept 8th (that I remember)
* A Queen Road resident reported Saturday night that someone broke into his pickup truck while he and his girlfriend were kayaking at Menantico Pond and stole his Motorola i870 Nextel cell phone, a 1000-watt Rockford Forsgate amplifier, two 12-inch subwoofer speakers and a Craftsman tool set from the pickup.
I can remember at least 6 that I have seen in the paper in the last year. I don't read the paper much and half of what happens in Millville does not make the paper.
Case in point, there was a gunshot victim last night in the middle of town, nothing in the paper today or on the website. Go figure.
