Can anyone recommend any good places to take kids fishing; with the opportunity to catch fish. I am thinking of pay per pound catfish ponds, perch or something similar. Suggestions and advice will be greatly appreciated. Some places about a two hour drive from Philadelphia; it can be in Pennsylvannia or N J.

fisherman's paradise

This place isn't bad. It's about 35 minutes west of King of Prussia mall. Easy to find. Might be a little drive for you, but you can get your guys psyched up during the ride out- talk about your day on the way home. You don't need a license. Lots of fish there. The kids will catch something. Bring a camera.

I used to go there meny years ago! It's a great place to take your kids. Early fishing for Trout ect!

I haven't fished here yet but might let the kids give it a go this spring.

My brother has taken his boy to The Grist Mill on route one near WAWA. I have never done it, but he seems happy with it.

There is a place located at rt 363 (Valley Forge Road) and rt 73 (skippack pike) in Worcester Montgomery County, that has a pay to fish pond on the site (Center Point Pond). No license required There are several types of fish (bass, trout, perch, sunnys and catfish) available there and you are almost guaranteed to catch something. I have taken my children there when they were younger and they had a blast. They also offer kids birthday packages and they can supply rods if you need them. A little expensive to pay for but still a good time for the kids. Not far from Skippack Village and you can take them up ther for a bite to eat. Also Evensburg Park is not far and some great hiking trails and drive around and look at deer and wildlife. Several places in the park to even have a picnic or barbeque.

Hookemhard - I used to take my son to the hatcheries on Linden Ave. We always caught sunnies, sometime catties, and last time we were there he caught a tiny largemouth bass. The state no longer stocks those ponds, but other fishermen do so you never know what you might get. Also, there is a pier at Rhawn Street back by the soccer fields that (last time I was there) is safe (fenced) for kids. Also, FDR Park in South Philly has some spots by the shore where you can set up. None of these are pay places, though anyone 16 and over would need a license.
