Good luck out there, be safe! The forecast doesn't look the best... fishable, but by no means will it be the most comfortable trip. Looking forward to hearing your report

don't know if it makes a difference now, but we caught a huge mako in water between the lindy and spencer in 500 fathoms early this morning.. that same water was half way between the spencer and wilmington at 2pm when we left the canyon.. the water to the north of the eddy was cold and green.

    it's flying down the edge..

We left at midnight to begin our journey to the spencer. It was a slow bumpy ride out and we contemplated if we should continue but to pushed on. About 20 miles out it bgan to build to a steady 5 to 7 out of ne but it looked like it wanted to swing around, we just hoped it didn't get worse. We ran alittle south of the spencer more in b/w the wilm and spencer and set up on the 100 line where we marked pretty good bait at about 5 am (thats how long it took us) Due to the chop and snap we decided that it was too rough to drift in the canyon on the 100 so we moved out into the deep where there was more of a roll to the sea. We shark fished for a couple of hours with no luck, we then switched around to troll with green machines and spreader bars and worked the 100 and 500 line. from about 12:30 to 3 pm we picked at small bluefins about 6 and boated three yellowfins, it was a great start to the season but a long *** kicking ride back to the dock in very snotty conditions. I need a bigger boat.
