2 questions. a friend and I were discussing if it was legal to cut the fins off a legal size flounder, use it for bait, keep the rest of the flounder as your total for the day. I said that you could not since the flounder has a size limit. Is it leagl to do it??
Do you think the artificial reefs are keeping the bigger flounder from going to the back bays??
No Idea on the first one. And for the 2nd, from what ive been hearing, most of the biggens are coming out of the ocean, esp off the reef sites. There are some biggens in the back bays also, theyre hiding in the deeper holes. A nice spro Bucktail teaser rig shuld get their attention
As I understand the regs no fish with a minimum size limit can be filleted at sea unless you have a fillet permit, so technically you are not allowed but guess it depends on the mood of the CO if you get checked.
I believe if your taking the fins and leaving the carcass whole, (head to tail) it is legal.
