got mine today, nice bright orange. Accompanied by the rules etc. Included were some statistics about the reported bass in 2002 logs. Of those reporting, 4 % of bass caught were 38 inches or greater. 26 % of bass were 24-27 inches.

2,584 logs were analyzed, which I found interesting considering it is widely reported that NJ waters have 800,000 anglers. Kinda makes one wonder....

Going to give the bonus thingy a try this year.

The bonus fish must be taken to a registered check station (there are currently 48 throughout the state) or the card can be mailed to the Division where another card will be issued as a replacement.
Q. does this mean if I don't weigh in that I need to mail it RIGHT AWAY. And if I mail it does that mean I only have one more fish before i have to wait for em to mail replacemnt cards.

other than that I undertstand it all.

Thanx in advance

Phil, Just received my cards also. If you look closely at the report they gave us. The chart only goes from 00' to 02'.

Max,

once you weigh the fish at a weigh station, they will then contact the state , and youmay be issued a temporary card I believe 2 weeks from the date you recorded your catch .. in the mean time your new tag may be in your mail box before the temp card expires ...

The answer is yes. I have mailed cards in and received a new one in a matter of days. The best thing to do (if you can) is take it to a "Check Station", this is what I do. ;)

Canyon, if you take your card & fish to a "Check Station", they will give you a new card "on the spot". ;)

Also, the rules state, "it doesn't matter what fish you harvest first, nor will it matter if you decide to use your bonus card on the first fish over 28" ;)

Also
"The Division still encourages participants to take their bonus fish to an authorized check station for weigh-in and removal of scales for aging purposes". ;)

Think about this one
I usually take my bonus fish to Harbor View Marina for weigh-in (by boat). They remove scales and give me a new bonus card. ;) I now take by boat & fish back to BZL (not a bonus weigh station) were my boat is slipped. If the man (DFG) comes down to my boat and checks my fish, I won?t have a bonus card filled out. Now I have to take him back to HV to confirm that I filled out my bonus card.
:( It's never happen to me, but it could.

I got my tags today. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. There has been some suggestion that Governor McGreevey may sue the ASMFC, DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE APPROPRIATE PROCEDURES WERE NOT FOLLOWED. I have alerted Curt Schroder, who is the legislator from Pa., who is on the ASMFC.[I am his proxy]. we will do what we can to assist New Jersey in this matter....Gene
