I'm pretty sure that already passed. Check the search engine for the forum, I know there were some posts about it back in early December, maybe even November. Good luck.

There is no way that it has passed. The final paper work for 05s were due on January 1st. Plus the fact that the new regs were not put into place till today.

If you had tags in 2005, then just send your completed season ending log in, ASAP. That has generally ensured that you get into the program the following year. Which ever morphed form it comes back in, and assuming it comes back.

If you didnt have tags in 2005, then I'd send an application in for 2006. Even though there has been no annoucement yet on this years program, might as well get to the front of the line.

Governor Signs Bill Establishing New Size Limit for Striped Bass

For more information contact:
Tom McCloy at 609-748-2020

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) announces a new recreational size limit for the harvest of striped bass. The new measure maintains New Jersey's compliance with the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission's (ASMFC) Fisheries Management Plan for striped bass.

The new requirement signed into law by Governor Richard J. Cody, allows anglers to take two striped bass each day equal to or greater than 28 inches. The statute includes the harvest of striped bass in any waters of the state.

The regulations governing recreational striped bass fishing in New Jersey are set by state legislation. Previously, under the former recreational striped bass fishing regulations, New Jersey anglers were allowed to keep one fish each day measuring 24 inches or greater to less than 28 inches and a second fish 34 inches or greater.

The new size limit keeps New Jersey's annual striper catch in line with conservation goals set by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission, which administers a coast-wide striped bass management plan.

The new legislation does not change the size limit of the Striped Bass Bonus Program, which will remain at one fish equal to or greater than 28 inches. Check the Division's web site (http://www.njfishandwildlife.com)and future press release for details concerning the 2006 Bonus Program.

My friend wanted to know because he didn't have tags for 2005 but would like to get into the pool for 2006 if possible.
