With the bait around, the bass on the move and the weather Gods on our side, it didn't take much for SRF, DaveC and myself to talk ourselves into another trip to the ocean front this morning
Dave "Anxiety" C with His 20lbs Bass Just Before it's Release.
It was a slow start to gathering bait. However, once the sun came up the bunker began to show tight into the beach, in say...10-15' of water. As the day went on the pods grew larger until there was literly bunker everwhere. We managed to catch our bass in a little deeper water. However, the majarity of the bait seemed to be pinned up tight to the beach.
SRF Aka, "The Knuckle" With His 26lbs Bass.
Fortunately for us we were able to manage one bass per person. Our fish went 20#, 26#, and 38#. All three where caught on live bunker, in some serious heat, on a flat as glass ocean, with a ton of "no see'ems" swarming like you wouldn't believe
It was 100,000 of them for every bass, until the heat became too much for'em and they split the scene
And Last But Not Least, A Shot Of Me With What Turned Out To Be Our Largest Fish Of The Day~ 38lbs.
All three of our fish were released with the understanding that they will grow as large as possible by eating huge amounts of bunker so that one day someone else (could be you) will get their shot at a monster
Oh Yeh!...While I got ya all here, I'd like to toss something out to those of you who plan on doing the bunker snagging, ocean thing.
If ya see everyone is fishing in tight to the beach and you're making a move, calling it a day or whatever. PLEASE do not run your boat in tight to the beach over top of all the bait and all of the bass!! Head a bit the to the East into deeper water where there are little to no boats and do your running there.
I'm begging ya
