Joe,

Congrats to your boys, you tought your ex mate well....

Couple of Q's:

* what is their DD reel of choice for the swords...LP, Daiwa, or other? Have heard recent problems with drag systems with the LP and with recent price bump, thinking Daiwa the way to go. Delph is using the Tanacom bull (blue reel) with 30# powerpro off KW and catching swords up to 200# if you can believe that (the lighter braid compensates for the drag in the 900# plus depths off the KW wall)

* what was the big girl's last meal? calamari? we had done really well with chicken mahi this past year....I think they light up with help of the LP disco light....

* any idea on stomach contents on the beast?

Tight Lines,

Frank

Frank,

Didn't teach him Nada! He could teach me a few things! Fish was on squid. They are using Penn 80's with electramate commercial motors. They have done well for these guys, but they have had problems with the reels. You have to be delicate with them. If they could buy all new motors, they would go with the lp assist on the same penn 80's. We use 80lb braid

That cold snap was nice, except It killed my 600 gogs, 450 threads and over 500 sardines. Water in my canal was in the lower 40's:naughty:

Sorry to hear about your bait pen Joe....that literally bites....we dropped into 42 degree water in the ocean reef channel to catch bugs, and with a full wet suit on it was like an ice cream brain freeze inside of 15 minutes.....luckily we warmed up with mahi, sails, ceros and swordies later that day ;)

Next multiday trip to the Tortugus is March 11th.....keep me in mind if you want to unload any fresh dead gog$ assuming that is not another tourney weekend.
