I'm looking at a boat with a 60 tracker 2 stroke. Anyone have any opinions on this era/size merc? I know they are more reliable than they used to be, but I have no experience with them. Any opinion or advice is appreciated.

I think tracker is a Merc? If so its reliable and part are availble. I'll give ya $200.

I know mercs were junk years ago, and now they seem to be good, I don't know when the transition was. I guess if you guys want it, it must be OK.

I have a 95 Merc 150hp Black Max. It's pretty unbustable. I've run it on 5 cylinders and not known until I was off the water. User error. Forgot to connect a spark plug wire. I have my minor issues with it now and again but without constant maintenance any motor will do that.

My friend has a 50 HP Tracker Motor, it runs great, he never had a problem with it, its an 02:thumbsup:

You should check compression and spark. Water test if possible. Tracker at one time used force motors as well as mercury. The force was called the power series and the merc was the pro series. although they did not make a 60hp force so that should be the merc. If you have any questions I would be happy to help. I had some problems with mine, years ago. I'd highly recommend having a good shop check it out professionaly. It would be money well invested.
