John, this can be stood up in, has no skid floor plates either side of the floor, too. I can't cast well sitting down (nor standing up for that matter!) so that's why i am thinkin about this one. Plus it has a ton of storage..
RE: Tidalfish, i'd rather pour clorox, alcohol, and sulfuric acid in my eyes... Biggest collection of knuckleheads on the interwebs. Plus, the guy that owns it, #### White is a tool IMHO. He charges a fee for everything, and you're made to feel less than welcome if you are not a paid subscriber. The info being disseminated there ain't worth 15 bucks a year. The FF forum is pretty much dominated by some real snobs too... Can't hold a candle to this one, plus all you guys are waaaaay more inclusive.
Wow!!!!!! I see hanging around with:bow: has rubbed off on you. :bow:has a tendency to sugar coat things too when he is giving his opinion.
I will throw out a few places you can look for info and opinions on this machine you are looking at. New England Kayak Fishing, Yakdawgs, and Kayak Fishing Stuff. I believe the last one is a dealer, but they do reviews on stuff. Not meant to compete with an advertiser of the barn, just throwing out names of where you may get opinions on these.
I have a Wilderness Tarpon T120 angler model, older version. I need to do some seating and back support additions to it. Otherwise it is fine. You have got to prepare for comfort. This is a major point that I cannot stress enough. Otherwise you will have a backache, that you will not believe possible.Trust me here
I hear good things about these Hobies with the foot paddles, and I do believe the paddles can be locked in the up position. and a regular paddle used. When they first showed up they were around 1300. Now I think they are a couple G's. I have seen people deck kayaks out to the point they should have bought a boat. 88 pounds, is a lot to put on a roof. Maybe on a corolla it would be OK, but on an SUV, you will damage your left @$%, if you know what I mean.
I have a 17 foot Boston Whaler, that does not get used, and while I do like my kayak, they have limitations. I do not like the confinement of a kayak for storage . I like the idea of a couple lures, and a rod, and go fishing, not to try to take my entire arsenal with me.
I am giving serious thought to selling my boat, but I would not make a kayak my personal choice of floatation on the water. I would go for an 8 foot fiberglass boat with about 7.5 hp, and do inland water. I do mostly bay and estuary fishing anyway. Maybe 10 feet, but no more.
Now, as for standing up in one, I will pay money to watch , drive to wherever, and sleep in your tool shed on the straw you offered me to see that, and if given the proper notice, I will see that a crowd is drawn.
