Got the bug to go clamming this morning.

With a hard south west wind. the tide was extra low but made for a some cold spray over the bow.

My dad and I ended up with 290 clams, mostly cherries and top necks.

Water was 38* in whale creek.

Looks like clams Casino tonight. :D

I hit the seasonal areas up along whale creek
It was tough, some areas where ROCK HARD bottom, and other spots had 6-8" of soft mud that my fat arse sank into very quickly.

can that be done from the boat or is it a take the boat to where you get out with waders and rake up the clams sorta deal? Woo hoo, hundreds of clams free for the raking, no bait no nuffin just a sixty dollar rake!

You either are one bad MF'er or have a very hot spot. 1100 clams in one tide is great for chop raking.

I have searched the banks down here in avalon but have never come across oysters in the mussel beds.

If you ever want to go, give me a shout.
