Been going 2wice a week since January 2nd. I was out the 12th and 13th this week and the action changed like a blink of an eye. The 12th i had an 8lb fish a 4lb fish and a smaller keeper. Yesterday I didnt do much at all except some small fish and eels. I will say that the current was much stronger yesterday then the previous day. I do think the water cooled down a little to fast, but they are still here. Its worth a shot, you can still put together a catch on wrecks in 90-120 ft of water.

schmeggy, there was some decent togging today out of Great Egg... in about ~100 feet of water.

backbay temp during the outgoing was 33/34 and then out front it went to 36/37... it slowly went up, creeping to 41 at the start of the incoming.. the bite picked up as it got warmer.

we caught our limit and then continued with catch & release, mostly 3-5 pounders.. the biggest went about 10 pounds. they hit clam, green crabs, white leggers... the biggest one took a greenie. also caught a cod on a crab.

great day out today.

Had a slow day on the Atlantic Star out of WWC today. Started out deep (100 +/-) and had a very strong current. Got a few bites and put a handfull of keepers in the boat. Bounced around a lot without too much going on at any stop. Rode inshore to about 80 feet, and found much lighter current but no life. Capt. Jim stayed out an extra 2 hours trying to put something together but it wasn't meant to be. Hung and lost the port anchor on the last stop just to rub salt in the wound. Next trip, word is he will be steaming way south looking for a better bite.

We went out of Mystic this morning and since it was a beautiful sea inshore, we decided to go off 30 miles and see if there was some cod or ling. We had a tough time anchoring since when we got out there the wind really picked up and it got sloppy. Only thing we caught were doggies. Long trip back in, but it was fun today! Made it home in time to catch the first NFL blowout! Get 'em next time!
