How is the fishing been lately in the inlet on the southside jetty? Plan on going tonight from about 7-11PM. What has been good clams, eels, plugging, or something else? Thanks for your time and advice!!!
Unfortunately the rocks have been dead. Seems the better fish are at the south end. The rocks use to be good, but have just not produced well for past 2 years. Overall LBI surf fishing has been poor. Just look at the tourney results, other than bluefish, lousy.
Dead, try a 4" storm Shad fished close to the rocks during the middle two hours of the falling tide. The bass will be between the rocks that are submerged during high tide, and visible during low tide. Alter the retrieve to suspend, then swim, suspend, then swim. The bass will come up from below and the fun begins.
Work an area, and move down the jetty to the next good looking spot. As always, check out the landing possibilities BEFORE hooking up. Good luck.
