Tred is striper fishing with his son and a guide named Marty . Fishing a piece of structure somewhere with eel. Nice size fish, they caught a bunch but only kept 3 a man; at least thats all the camera showed back at the dock. Didn't get to see the whole episode but it was cool. Really nice size fish, anyone know where they were fishing? I'm assuming somewhere up north.

That show is actually a couple years old but one of my faves from Tred.

A good illustration of the importance of having good numbers stored in your gps. Fishing at night like that is a real challenge when you can't see the rips. But with a good set of numbers, he was able to get back to the same lump/hill over and over again.

Ive seen that episode as well. Interesting way to target bass. If they were not directly on the spot the bass wouldnt take the bait. That captain had it dialed in for sure. Pretty good stuff however Barta can be pretty arrogant on his shows. The captain's uniform he wears is just ridiculous! I heard through the grapevine that Tred suffered a stroke recently. Anyone else hear that?:huh:

A spinal stroke of some sort and he is paralyzed from the chest down.
However, he is back fishing and had a very uplifting article in Sport Fishing magazine this month.

I was flipping through the channels and i saw it so i DVRed it. It seems a lot of shows have been doing Montauk episodes.
And NE angling came back on SNY. I think it is channel 77.

Yea Tred had a stroke still paralyzed from the chest down, can use his arms.

His friend, Marty, died last season. Got caught up in the anchor rope and got pulled overboard. His son was with him, very sad.

Tred can be a little hard to take sometimes, but he catches fish. I'd rather watch him then the million freshwater Hillbilly Bass fishing shows that are on TV these days.....

I remember that incident. I didn't realize it was the same fella. You're right, it is very sad. Seems like a real good guy.

Tred seemed a little out of his element, didn't like the way he handled the fish. He is sure a good offshore guy but this eposode was not flattering , I thought.
