I heard a rumor from one of my patients today that the Bayview Bar and Resturant on Sunset lake is slated for demolision to make way for more f----- condos. It is a great place to go for dinner, drinks, and wings. I walk there from my house. Has anyone heard this?? :(

That was true. The deal fell through and it is back open for business... Great place to go, but you can't blame the guy for wanting to sell. The rumored price was $6M... Another problem seemed to be that you have to sell all of the property. You can't split and put up condos at one end and leave the restaurant intact.

I'd get used to hearing stuff like that. Word on the street is the Wagon Wheel florist shop is being sold...yay, more condos! Empty summer condos and real estate offices will be the only thing on any of the barrier islands in 10-15 years. Its just not financially sane for anyone to keep a business, as the land is simply worth too much. For anyone who isn't already pretty wealthy to attempt a new venture is almost totally out of the question. Just from my restaurant skewed perespective, it seems the very same people who wouldn't bat an eyelash at dropping 2.5 mill on a 2 bedroom Cape Cod tear-down get downright indignant over a menu thats not priced two dollars above FREE.

Casino's and condo's, big bucks high taxes. Ya gotta wonder if NJ will misss the fishing related income. Is this the beginning to the end, MPA's, beaches closed to fishing. HAPPY DAYS.

I spoke with a friend who owns a nightclub in Wildwood. He said that The Bayview has sold for $7,000,000. It is going to be a high rise condo complex on Sunset Lake. I don't know how the hell they got the zoning for such a project. In the Wildwoods goverment corruption runs so deep, at the right price, (payoff) you can do anything!!!

HIPKVW, Don't laugh about Fortesque. Two of my friends invested down there! 10 years from now you will wish you had property there.

The Bayview is on Lower Township. I know the possibility of it becoming condos did exist, the company I work for was contacted about doing all the engineering/site plan work As far as I know it will be open.
It would be real tough to do much there, the lot is long and narrow and bound by wetlands along the bay.

BARNABY,
If is bound by wetlands would yhis mean that they cannot install a bulkhead with boat slips?
I noticed a bulkhead was put in years ago to the right of the Bayview and it went no further. I heard they were having zoning and reparion rights difficulty.

Not necessarily, Dr.Mike. But it may be true that they are having zoning and riparian rights probelms. The company I work for hasn't done any work at the Bayview, other then just preliminary stuff. I know the Bayview published an ad in the Herald a few weeks back that they weren't sold and would be open for business.

That lot to the right is (or was) a different owner when I did the deed research last year. This might be why the bulkhead was stopped at the Bayview.

And I think that the whole area along the "beach" (rocks actually) at Sunset Lake is going to be bulkheaded by the borough.
