Have You Guys Been Following the Reports This
Week up around the SandyHook Grounds and Both
Sides of the Raritan Bay?

Just Crazy Action Happening...
Big Stripers Boiling before Sunset on
Schools of Bunker...

I lost count on how many Stripers that
were weighed in the 30's,40's and 50lb Range
that I read about.

Reports of 40-60 fish outings,Hookups of
3-4 40lbers at once on Live Bunker....

Boat Captins are quoting its been "the Best
Spring Run In Years",they "can't remember the
last time a Slot was caught its been so long".
"35"fish look small these days", etc....

They say this run of fish are all spawned out
and they are still waiting for the Hudson
Fish to move down...

Best Baits have been Live Bunker, some boats
going thru a 100 of them each trip...
Chunks of Bunker are also catching
along with Clam.Guys Trolling are Picking
Them Up,And They are Slamming Plugs Now Too....

I will be jetty-jumpin starting tomorrow morning. I might start tonight if I get out of bartending. Last years logs on these dates are ridiculous! We were catching 25# to 40#'s off jetties in Monmouth! All on on live snagged bunker.

I use the 5" & 6" in the Fall. They are deadly.Never really tried them this time of the year. The demons have a field day with em.You need to either swim a Live one or drift a dead one.

I will have them on me up to 6". If there are blues mixed in I'd rather use rubber shads with 1 1/2 oz leadheads. So if one does get trashed by a blue, I just replace the shad body.

I will only use them if I can't snag any bunker. For snagging from the jetty I use 3' of 40# flouro tied to 9/0 treble with a 1 oz egg sinker that slides between the hook and barrel swivel. I snag them with that and bring them in, If a bass does whack it first. Then I hook them with either through the mounth or back behind the anal fin.

I know someone's gonna cry cause I'm using treble's and what if gut hook them. Fact is I can't remeber the last time I gut hook a bass with a treble. Last year I used this setup many times along with circles and J's. Both off set and nonoffset. The only time I gut hooked while living was when I used the offset circle and J's.

And did I mention that I mash the barbs down.
