bird play off of cape may

Today (Sunday) there was a big bird play off of cape may right by the buoys at the end of the inlet (near the jetties). Did anyone know what was going on?

We were on our way back from a long day at the CM reef so didn't feel like stopping...

Bluefish..
yEP yEP BLUEFISH,SMALL VERY SMALL BLUEFISH
Vinny, looks like the small fry are in. Same thing down the point. Fly rod is producing good number of weakies on small flys but they are mostly all small. That is secondhand info. I didn't book any trips for the weekend since we had alot of family down. They are all non fisherman and I don't want to be out during the day with all the crazy's over the holiday. Did sneak out for 1 1/2 while they went to the mall Saturday night and did get a couple of small bass on the fly. It is a real zoo down here and it is a wonder the fish even have anyplace to hold up during the day without the spinning props chewing up the water.
Ray,

Moved my boat over the WW this spring. Fished the point on Sat AM. Lots of small fluke and blues. Managed a couple keepers out of the Armada.

See you out there.
Doc
Ray,Zoo it is took me 1 hr. 15 min. to get home from WW last night !!I also heard of lots of small weaks showin up.Right around the corner.Glad to hear their takin a fly for ya !!Hopefully some bigger ones will join the mix as well.Hey even the small ones Blues, weaks and stripers are fun on the long rod..I know ya have to be glad that weekend is out of the way !! now back to fishing and less traffic may it be on the water or land.LOL,Vinny
I was fishing on the Royal Flush yesterday.
The captain found a large bird play approximately one mile off the lower end of Wildwood Crest. They were snapper blues under the birds and a Thresher shark beneath the blues. One of the patrons hooked it and had the opportunity to do battle with it. It caused a lot of commotion on the surface before stripping the reel and breaking off.
Cayman,
Welcome to the BassBarn.Com,
Glad To Have You Aboard......

Thanks For That Report...
Must of Been Quite A Sight Seeing
That Battle with the Shark.Very Cool.....
Blues. The question is what are they feeding on? Could there be something lurking under the Blues. Mr. Striper
FIRST OF ALL IS THE ROYAL FLUSH GETTING IN ON THE GHETTO SHARKING?? THERE IS TONS OF SMALL BAIT INSHORE ON LUMPS AND THE BANK AND WITH THE WATER SLOWLY WARMING THE TAILS SHOULD LEAVE AND HOPEFULLY SOMETHING WILL COME FROM THE SOUTH TO FEED LIKE KING'S OR SPANISH OR SOMETHING?
SEEKER 2--I DOUBT IF STRIPERS ARE ON THE BEACHFRONT BUT WITH THIS WEIRD YEAR AND THREASHERS STILL HERE ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

Bird Play off LBI this Morning,,,
Terns were diving, and a school of something
was under them breaking the surface either
Bluefish or Weakfish.
They never got close enough for me to
cast into them to find out....
Jim, I was wondering if you were ever going to do any fishing. Steve said you moved the boat, since DB is on the slow side. Keep in touch. I only fish early morning, or sunset to avoid the sun and the boat traffic. I mostly use the fly rod anymore and have been having alot of fun. I will keep my eye open for you. Do you have the name on your boat?
