It would appear that the bluefin have finally put in an appearance off Hatteras.
This is today’s report from Hatteras Harbor Marina.

********
Bluefin are here! Our boats released several today and brought one back to the dock. A private boat weighed in a nice 310lb Bluefin. There were also some Blackfin and Yellowfin Tuna. A scattered Wahoo and Dolphin bite.
Citations
Godspeed: Gregory Hoff of Cary, NC released a Bluefin Tuna. Jeffrey Roser of Virginia Beach, VA caught a 140lb Bluefin Tuna. Casey Hodges of Danbury, CT released a Shark.
********

Looks like I’ve got to get serious about putting some crews together now!

Please see this earlier thread for additional info.

As I indicated in my last post in that thread ....

Have a trip booked for 2/21. Still have room for one more person.
I also have one person who wants to fish 2/18 or 2/19. Need 3 more to make the trip.

Beyond that, would like to fish as many days as possible between 2/18 and the end of February.

Hopefully, the bluefin will be in residence by then. If not, we’ll simply bag the trips.

As always, give me a shout if you’d like to wrestle some of those rascals to the boat! ;-)

The 'Tempest' is at Hatteras Harbor Marina which is maybe 50 yards south of Village. I'm on the other side of the creek.

More info is available at http://www.Tempest-Sportfishing.com.

BTW, years ago, I ran a 33 Bertram for an owner who had a summer home in Somers Point. Small world at times. ;)

I would love to just go for a ride on that Bert. I love the early 80's 42 ft. It would be neat to see the layout and the ride of the 46ft. Nice boat

Appreciate the kind words.

Yep. She's built like a tank; heavy and coupled with the steep deadrise, you pretty much have to work at it to make her pound.

She's no rocket ship, but with 620 HP 8-92's on each side, she'll get out of her own way. Alas, those old 2 strokes do suck down the fuel.

If you're ever down my way, stop by the boat. I'll be happy to buy you a beer and give you a tour.

My boat Prime Time out of Teach's caught the 310. We broke three others off on 30s's as we were targeting yellowfin. We had two 80's on the wwwb and got the last bite on one of those. fished up on the 460 line about 40 miles north of Hatteras. all bites came out of one pile of fish right on the 100 fathom line, and I mean a pile of fish!!!! Looks like those fish are moving south should be some good fishing next couple of weeks!!! Go get em guys!!!:D

Last year, they stayed off Hatteras for about the first 10 days of March.

Of course, it was a much colder winter last year. Unless it turns cold and stays cold, I suspect they'll be headed north when March rolls around.

Update ....

We now have two spots open for 2/21 and still need 3 more people for 2/18 or 2/19.
Here's today's report from Hatteras Harbor Marina.

---------------------------
Several boats were out fishing today, they had a pretty decent day. There were some Bluefin Tuna caught only one brought in, there were at least 6 released. A few Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna and Dolphin rounded out the day.

A number of Bluefin were boated and/or released by boats fishing out of Hatteras today.

We're going to give it a shot tomorrow.

Film at 11:00! ;)

Note: We still have two open spots for Tuesday, 2/21.

Just give me a shout if you're interested.
