Looks like it picked up were the fall left off. I guess those bucktails turned into plain leadheads pretty quickly

Which bay where you catching the blues in. I am looking to do a trip on Friday. thanks for the help.
They are everywhere. I had them chewing up my clam rigs on Sunday in O.C.
longcast ,,actually i only lost 5 bucktails last nite ,, the fish were being very cooperative and were hooked in the corner of the jaw,, if it was a bite off it happened instantly,, going back tonite ,, just in case there still around,, new supply of bucktails with hair ,, :D
Heard from a little birdy that opened up one of them blues and found weakies in there stomach humm maybe theyt are to blame instead of the bass
Hit Corson's today and at low tide they were just over the last bar. Got 6, biggest was 28", 5-6 lbs. All on mackeral. Never had a chance to try metal; will later this week though.....
They never really came in w/ the tide.

Hey Craig, how'd ya do?
Tim,

Tough day back there.%**# wind. Tried to get away from the blues and wound up getting away from the fish. Managed one bass 25". Hope your wife enjoyed the day.
They were thick in Great Bay this afternoon. They were pretty big too. With no net man I broke several off trying to swing them over the rail. The fluke can not be far behind.
the other day was getting so mad, just catchin sea weed.. took a cast and let it sink and right away i thought i snaged more red weed, i was like this is it, i'm outta here... started reelin in super fast and boom, drag started going out! took me a couple of cast after to realize what i was doing to catch it but once i realized it was the fast retrieve, every cast produced a bite or a fish. even noticed that the bass would eat it even with a little red weed on the lead head, but didn't notice any with the weakies.... now i'm a pink plastic pro. so if you've never had any luck with plastic like me,maybe just get mad. one of the first times gettin mad ever made me so happy!

Rodger that A Frayed Knot
. Choppers as well as cocktails. Bass still to be had along with some drum. Tide runner weaks as well!(got pink?) Season should be in full bloom come the weekend. PS..blues tend to make "history" out of nets. Might want to carefully gill em or "small gaff" em in the mouth for reliece.

</font>[/QUOTE]There no chance in he!! that I am trying to gill a big chopper blue. I was sucessful swinging the first 3 but after that they straitened 2 snap swivels in a row. I tied the next one direct to the and it bit it off. I did manage on 23 inch striper that I was sure was a tiderunner but it had stripes. All fish were caught on pink fin-s.

Not with the fingers bud! My fault for not elaborating. Can use a regular gaff & "carefully" come in from the gill slit & out the mouth. Piece of plastic tube can be used to cover the point to prevent impailing ;) (have lots on hand). Should you "be in a bind" (safety wise) or plan to keep some, thumb & middle finger in eye scokets makes for a perfect grip & calms the hell out of em.
Hey there Rick. Saw a guy on Monday lose a good part of his thumb just trying to get his jig out. Lose a few, but who really cares. Lost about 20 bucks worth of jigs to em already. Been catching decent , but no weaks since Sunday.
Hey Val whats going on. I plan to keep my digits intact. I have yet to get in on the weakfish action down there. Got out tonight and gave it another shot. All we got was four blues. Had one hit a run up near where you were fishing but could not hook it.
A friend of mine had a blue yesterday that had both halves of an 8 inch striper in it's stomach.
Do the "bluefish death grip" :D ...grab the blue hard right behind his head..up towards the top...and squeeze with your thumb and pointer finger. They wont move while you take the hook out.
Clamchucker, I saw a dude a few years ago do that on a Head out of CM. Mate netted it, and was gonna take the hook out. DudeMan says all cocky, "I Got it". I never saw a guy lip a blue before, but we all got some peace from that point on, cause Mr. Loudmouth "GOT IT" alright, and stayed inside the boat for the rest of the trip.
Fished COrsons Inlet Sunday Morning before the wind kicked up. Nice blue fish at 8:30 weighing 6.4 lbs and 29 inches. Smaller blue (25") at about 7:30
