I own one but have never caught anything with it. The thing is just too heavy to throw in the shallow area that I fish.
I can tell you that smaller spinnerbaits definitely work on stripers, especially in shallow, murky water.
I keep a couple of small spinnerbaits in my plug bag at all times.
Give them a try, you might be pleasantly surprised.
