DEP OFFICIALLY WITHDRAWS CHANGES TO WILDLIFE RULES
(04/143) TRENTON - Department of Environmental Protection (DEP)
Commissioner Bradley M. Campbell today announced that he has officially
withdrawn a November 15 wildlife rule proposal that would have set
standards, clarifying under what circumstances DEP would withhold
hunting licenses.
As a result of the recent New Jersey Supreme Court decision, DEP will
instead focus on working with the New Jersey Fish and Game Council to
develop a comprehensive wildlife management policy.
Commissioner Campbell signed the notice to withdraw the rule on
December 7 and the notice will appear in the New Jersey Register on
January 3, 2005.
The January 4 public hearing previously scheduled to accept public
comments on the withdrawn rule has been cancelled.
