I think the reason for the smaller sticker pass is because the original one was pretty big, so instead of sticking it on window, alot of guys, myself included, simply laminated it and put it on the dashboard when we got to the beach. The problem began when guys were letting buddies use the pass by simply giving them their pass, so an unregistered truck who did not pay for the pass ended up on the beach for free using someone's pass. the guys at Riptide confirmed this when I went in for the Striper Derby permit and brought in my beach pass in case they needed to see it to sell me the derby permit. I was told there was a problem and the police were aware of it and actually issuing violations. Now, with smaller sticker, I guess the argument is, there is no excuse for not attaching it to your rearview mirror and the problem of "lending" your pass is eliminated. I should qualify by stating I never lent my pass out.

i stopped putting my sticker on my buggy for two reasons- they started to take up too much space; and when i went to remove a sticker i inadvertently damaged the defroster, so only half the back window gets defrosted. Shoulda never started putting them on that window to begin w/.

No biggie, it's used only for fishing. Occasionally, however, I would bring the now-laminated pass into my new jeep to take a ride on the beach. I wouldn't mind paying a small fee to register both vehicles on one tag (after all, I can only drive one at a time; and sometimes when checking stickers they DO match it against the tag) but i'm not gonna get two passes for the very few occasions.

I'm a little confused. How and where is the sticker to be placed? If it is placed on the backside of the rearview mirror (inside the truck), how would it get lost?

I guess they think most back in??

anyhow, picked up my sticker... the funny thing was hearing a fellow complain that you need a beach badge to sit out down by the jetty, during the summer day hours (that won't be an issue for me as I have no intention of being there during normal summer daylight hours)...seems for the $, it should include beach passes, for that one spot at least (I was told you can't run the buggy through the rest of the bathing area anyway.... except during spring/fall surf contests... if you join...)
