All winter the locals have been telling me about the great Cobia fishing that would come in March. The story is the big rays would arive and underneath them would be miles of one of the the best fighting and best eating fish. We found em yesterday on Bethal shoals. Not under rays but on the bottom. Red snapper were also thick but they all went back due to closed season. another cherry broke for me. Last week was my first AJ. Still havent caught a Wahoo.

Nice report & pics. On a side note my better half loves to kayak in the back waters and such in around Cape May. My question I would like to purchase one for her but have no idea what I am looking for so can you help me out. When is your store open? Nice web-site.

elusive cobia

good luck to you...you can get a better shot at a nice cobia by running the beach and covering some ground. we often would get a shot at one running to the sword grounds and just spotting them on the surface. with a live pilchard, your instantly on...dont bring em in the boat too green...you'll see!! Best of luck

oh yeah, as for the wahoo...light coffe colored wire with live bait j hook with a small treble stinger on a LARGE live blue runner or goggle eye. fish it down deep on the edge 60 +/- ft. LIGHT DRAG if you wanna stay tight!! let em run...i lost a ton..before getting this info.

Did you run out of Port Canaveral? We had them pretty good back in September around the were huge schools of sardines that the rays and cobia were on. Those giant manta rays are incredible!

My bad, just looked at a map. Looks like you went out of your local inlet. When we were down in fall, I guess we fished out of Sebastian instead of PC when we fished The Bethel Shoals. At first I was thinking Pelican Flats.

NIce fish! I am going to be going out of the Cape on the 6th or 7th. I am hoping to get on some Cob's. I think I am going to be going out of Fort Pierce diving for some bugs and to do a little spearfishing on the 27th or 28th. If I get lucky enough to see one then I might have a shot at sticking a spear in one.
