I fished just south of that area years ago. Smallmouths, walleyes, and pike were the main species that people went after in lakes. On colder lakes, further north, you can catch lake trout near the surface, etc.
It really depends on the specific lakes they will take you to more than the area. If the lakes have had little fishing pressure, you should really have fun.
Bugs can be bad in Canada as was just posted. The best place I ever stayed was on an island where the wind seemed to always blow and the bugs didn't like that. But, they can be bad in the summer and fall as well. It could be flies, skeeters, or both. I have seen them come out in cold weather right after it was snowing and raining and warmed up a little and just descend like a cloud.
