Anybody ever take a fly out trip to Canada? I'm asking cause I just got my confirmation in the mail. I'll be going the 2nd week of June, the outfit is called Kesagami outposts & it's based in Cochrane Ontario, I'm pumped up. I've been pike fishing in canada before but never this area. If anybody's used this outfit or any near it please share your expierience. Thanks

June is buggy as hell. The blackflies are awful. Anytime between 7/1-8/31 is better. Not sure of water temps that time of year either. You might want to reconsider dates.

I fished just south of that area years ago. Smallmouths, walleyes, and pike were the main species that people went after in lakes. On colder lakes, further north, you can catch lake trout near the surface, etc.

It really depends on the specific lakes they will take you to more than the area. If the lakes have had little fishing pressure, you should really have fun.

Bugs can be bad in Canada as was just posted. The best place I ever stayed was on an island where the wind seemed to always blow and the bugs didn't like that. But, they can be bad in the summer and fall as well. It could be flies, skeeters, or both. I have seen them come out in cold weather right after it was snowing and raining and warmed up a little and just descend like a cloud.

I'm aware of the bugs & I'll probably be wearing a hat with mesh netting over my face. One of the reason's I'm going that early is hopefully to be around while the big pike are still stalking the shallows, If I'm lucky I'll catch the tail end of that & get into some good topwater action.

According to the guy I talked to the particular lake we're fishing is coming off a rest season, nobody fished there last season. This plase has strict conservation rules & you are not allowed to use bait or treble hooks. Hopefully this equals some good fishing.
