In short, 99% of those 1500 participants have walked away from our Seminars all with the same over-riding comment; "The Seminar is worth every penny!!!!!!!!!!!"

As always we've added significantly to the topics covered this year with respect to BRAND NEW advanced training sessions plus 19 breakout topics in order to make sure all repeat attendees have plenty of new topics to enjoy! We continue to provide the core training for all skill levels from beginner to part time to seasoned offshore fisherman. But most importantly for the thousands of you who attended in the past, we will be adding several new and more advanced courses while still providing the single best way for those new to the offshore scene to learn everything they need to know to succeed in the canyon.

We will conduct 19 breakout topics (three times the amount from earlier years) including for 2010 - EIGHT (8) never before seen detailed, hands-on, breakout sessions including: 1) Advanced Bluefin Chunking & Light Tackle; 2) Advanced Tuna Trolling Techniques & Patterns; 3) Tilefishing; 4) Advanced Marlin Trolling Techniques & Patterns; 5) Anchoring in the Deep; 6) Advanced Water Temp & Turbidity Analysis Advanced Courses for prior Attendees Only; 7) Electronics Troubleshooting & Maintenance; and, 8) Knot Tying & Testing with a State of the Art Digital Line Tester for all to use to test your skills at know tying.

In addition, our most popular breakout sessions will return. You'll get your hands dirty rigging ballyhoo and youll learn the ins and outs of trolling for medium to giant bluefin tuna. You'll get grease on your hands breaking down and maintaining offshore reels and you'll learn how to use your electronics effectively to find fish. You'll learn to set up for chunking as if you were in our cockpit and you'll learn everything you'll need to know about jigging for tuna. Finally you learn all about the end game - leadering, gaffing and harpooning big fish - and how to find, hook and land the elusive swordfish that patrol the canyon depths.

We'll have over $10,000+ in door prizes at each Seminar including two grand prizes - a $2,000 gift certificate towards Canyon Runner Outfitters tackle and 1 day of giant tuna fishing on the Canyon Runner. Canyon Runner Miami Report - 1st Sword in 1st Trip

Guys - I pulled this post off another site. We started fishing the 60' Ritchie Howell in Miami last weekend and Capt. Mark DeBlasio did the first trip with Freddie Gamboa from Andreas Toy. Freddie put up this post so I thought it would be best coming from him. We will be fishing down in Miami until April so please shoot me an email or call me at 732-272-4445 if interested.

The swordfishing really bounced back this year with boats fishing all night getting 2-4 a trip. This was great news to hear after two years of bad fishing so we look forward to a great winter!!

Had a business trip to Miami planned for the week, so decided to spoil my self and Charter the 60' Richie Howell Canyon Runner. Had buddy Jack Gleason with son Joe, son in Law Brian, and Grandson Patrick with my client Dr Barry Ray. Started out saturday and filled up the livewell with 5 dozen threadies in no time. Made our way to the grounds but got greeted with stiff 25 knot winds in a tight 4-5 slop. The 60 Ritchie ate it up, set up on the drift for the evening, not much happening so decided to push offshore to try for a sword bite. Capt Mark put us on the drift and fired up the SeaKeeper Gyro Stabalizer!!

You have got to be Kidding- we were in the gulf stream beam sea into true 5 ftr's with barely a snap roll, hard to believe. First drift connected with our first sword that Pat, his Dad Brian, and Grandad Jack all shared. After some pictures decided to release her safe. Jack's first billfish which was the goal of the trip. Mal De Mar reared her ugly head with half the crew crying uncle. Instead of an overnighter headed back to the dock, tied up and decided to try for sails in the morning. Got up in the morning got some bait and headed back to the grounds, this time we were greeted with a stiff 30 knot wind and 5-6ftr's with some 7-8's to keep it interesting. The crew of Bert and Hennry put out the kite and numerous baits on top and deep to get the action going. Started landing nice kings hooking half a dozen to 8lbs, when the Sail hit. Put the belt on Patrick and started the chase, nice sail greyhounding in the rough seas made for wild roller coaster ride but, Patrck was in for the fight, after a 5 minutes of the fight the sail chafed the leader. Went looking for more sails but conditions made it tough. Overall not a lot of bites from the bills in tough conditions, but a great crew that never gave up. For me the creature comforts made for a great trip, comfy leather couch to retire to during the day or night time to have a nice cold beverage, 50 inch flat screen tv to watch latest news and sports, a stateroom to sleep and shower after a day of fishing. Thanks CR team.

tuna jigging/popping sessions

In addition to normal tuna jigging, I am going to discuss about tuna popping based on my experiences in Cape Cod, Gulf of Mexico and Panama. Many different high-end jigging and popping rods will be shown at the show to compare each other.

Just checked the weather for this weekend. What happens if there's a significantly bad(over 8 inches of snow) storm? Will this be re-scheduled? I hope not. Most of us have 4x4's.
No it will not be cancelled regardless of whether - "The Show Must Go On!"

However, we have been down this road once before and if weather becomes a factor we will have a delayed start to give everyone time to get there. I'll make announcements on every website out there plus at www.canyonrunner.com plus on our voicemail at 732-842-6825 of any delay start. The one time we had a very severe storm during our NY Seminar it turned out to be our best Seminar attendance ever in NY as most everything else was cancelled for folks so since they had no other conflicts they came out to the Seminar in droves.

That said - right now it is scheduled to start at 8am with registration and 8:45 will mark the beginning of the first class.

Look forward to seeing you there.

P.S. - We had a huge influx of tickets today and are down to a handful so please call tomorrow to get them if you plan on coming - we do not want to be selling tickets at the door!!!!

Kil - once again I'll be breaking away from my responsibilities just to hear your breakout session. I learn something new every year - glad to have you back again!!!!

Sorry i must miss it this year. It has been a three year run and with each year the adding of differnt topics has made each and every year worth it. I can't say enough about the info given at these seminars.

One year I even got to share a beer with Capt. Mark D. I learned more about BFing in that 20 mins than I could anywhere except the boat. I am still greateful for that. Well worth it!

Also I have, over the years, purchased some CR tackle. Last year I had a spreader barr destroyed by a BE bite. Well, I put that in a post, only to give the report of a BE bite and nothing else. Yet Adam reached out to me and sent me replacement GM's for the barr. This was not my intent and certainly not expected but none the less was done. Pretty stand up in my book.

Enjoy the show boys I will miss it...
