Imagine those teeth coming at you! I heard that they were almost fished to extinction down South. I would love to know the set up used to catch it.

With the bows on each side of them it looks like they were bow fishing. Which i cannot imagine with a fish that big. :eek:

In the hot summer they come up into the shallows and roll and lolly gag for hours in the sun. We had them come up to us by the 100's when we were skiing the back cuts just north of Galvaston TX. Very scary if you never saw it before.

I HAVE NEVER SEEN A GAR ANYWHERE NEAR THAT SIZE.OR IS IT A FISH MADE BY CAPTHERSCH?

NOT A GAR-THE WORLD RECORD IS 51 LBS AT TRINITY RIVER TEXAS IN 1954.

They get pretty big!



World record on rod and reel is 290 lbs!



Apparently, they like to take ducks from the top of the water. Check out the lure...

I got on eof these when I was in the Service in Fork Polk ,la long time ago but never forgot it
Small compared to this as it only went a little over 20lbs BUT it was impressive
