Hey guys,

We use clam bellies a lot up here around LEI, but the only thing "ever" available are frozen 2 and 4 gallon pails that I have to defrost for some time.

Do any of the wildwood/cape may bait guys actually carry "fresh" bellies? I'd take the ride for that

Call him ahead of time. If they aren't up to his standards he won't sell them. He had 1 bag left one time last year and I asked to buy it. He said he couldn't because it wasn't fresh enough. Never saw a tackle shop stand by their bait freshness like that before. He told me exactly when to come back to get fresh, he rolled in with the brand new FRESH clam only a few minutes before I got there.

Are the fresh bellies better than the frozen? I usually use the frozen.
