I stopped down yesterday and deleviered a couple of stainless steel clam rakes to:

Captain Tates and The Girls Place.

I had to raise to prices slightly due to the huge cost increase on stainless steel material.

You can still get them from me, or if you are closer to Captain Tates or The girls place, they both have them for $65.00

Phish,
If you like clams, it is alot of fun. In the real hard sand bars, it can be a little tougher on the back, but the thin blades on the rakes make it alot easier than the "shoobie" rakes.

My dad had me out clamming since I was 2 years old and some how I enjoyed it. Alot of times, as a kid, My dad would clam the shallows and we would stay in the boat and crab until we got bored and then get out and clam a little then go back to crabbing.

Everyone's definition of fun is different, but I truly enjoyed it as a kid.

What kind of license do you need if you do not sell the clams? Is there a limit. Any info would be appreciated. Post it or e-mail it.
Thanx

HARDTOP,
If you are from NJ, The recreational license is 10 dollars and is good for the entire year. The limit is 150 clams per day.

Out of state, the license is good from June 1 to Oct 31st (double check that) and the limit is also 150 per day.

I think the out of state license is 20 dollars, but I am not sure on that either.

To buy 100 top neck clams is around 40 dollars. If you buy a clam rake, go twice and get your limit, you are ahead of the game.

Thanx for the info. I've been watching guys do it for years and never made the time to do it. I love fresh clams so I figure I'll give it a try this year.

I love clams on the half shell, steamers, and clams casino. There is nothing better then a cold beer and clams, unless it's the bearded kind. :D

This year I might have to give it a try because after a day of fishing I usually pick up 100 littlenecks for steamers.

I live and fish by LBI, Anybody up this way sell your rakes?

Johnny D,
Noone up there yet.
I can ship the head for 45, but you would have to put it on a handle. It is not hard to do.

For eagles fans and anti-commercial fishermen, I have to charge an aggravation fee of 10 additional dollars.
