A cassion gate, constructed of heavy steel with several tons of ballast in the keel, is a barrier used to dam-off the open end of a dry-dock. The 2nd cassion gate was dropped on CM Reef at 38 degrees, 50.699 x west 74 degrees 43.023

Sorry the coordinates format as provided by the NJ Div. of Fish & Wildlife (not very user friendly....). Most GPS units can convert as you input the format. Usually found in "settings" menu of your individual unit.

As always, thanks for passing this info along to the rest of us. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with the format of the coordinates. It's degrees and decimal minutes, which many of us use. I recognize that some use degrees, minutes, and seconds, but it's pretty easy to convert the .699 minutes to seconds. Just multiply the .699 times 60 and it gives you 41.94 and multiply the .023 time 60 which results in 01.38 seconds.

I'm pretty sure it would read 38 50 41.94 and 74 43 01.38. However, thats the same location as the one they dropped in September.
